Statistics from the Association (ANCI) showed that Italy's footwear trade surplus exceeded 1 billion 400 million euros in the first 5 months of 2012, an increase of 12.2% over the same period last year.

Among them, 97 million pairs of shoes were exported, totaling 3 billion 113 million euros, an increase of 4%; 148 million pairs of imported shoes, total 1 billion 663 million euros, down 2.3%.

Italy's domestic market demand was sluggish due to rising raw material prices, sluggish consumption and sales links. Orders fell 4.1% in the first half of this year.

Sagripanti, chairman of the Italy Footwear Association, said exports saved Italy's footwear industry and stabilized domestic employment. But the government still needs more attention to integrate more resources to stimulate consumption and promote the growth of the industry.

Chairman Sagripanti also put forward four suggestions: reducing labor costs and reducing tax wedge; introducing incentive policies to encourage enterprises to develop R & D; protecting employment; helping SMEs to "go out", especially developing new markets.

Exporting overseas, the average price of each pair of shoes has increased from 18.9 euros in 2002 to 32.1 euros now.

Strong exports have helped boost domestic production, especially in the Russian and Chinese markets, which has made up for the slump in domestic demand.

According to the world footwear industry research report, in 2011, 2 billion 700 million pairs of Chinese consumer shoes were imported, and the import increased by 293% in the recent 5 years. This is a huge rising market for Italy.

Now Italy's exports to China and Hongkong account for 5% of its global export share, the seventh largest destination market for Italian exports, and three times the amount of exports ten years ago.

Italy exports to China the average price of each pair of shoes is 94 euros, which is the highest price in the Italian footwear export destination.

In September this year, the ANCI, the largest and most influential Milan International Footwear Exhibition (MICAM), attracted 20584 foreign visitors for the first time, and exceeded Italy visitors for the first time.

During the exhibition, ANCI also announced that on April 2013 9-11, the Shanghai MICAM exhibition will be held in Shanghai, namely the Milan international shoe exhibition.

This is the first time that ANCI has held a MICAM exhibition abroad. There will be 200 high-end brands in Italy and other countries.

This will help Italy shoe manufacturers to further develop the Chinese market and promote the Italian market.
