Teachers And Students Of Donghua'S Visual Communication Department Experience Holland Culture Deeply.

The Visual Communication Department of Donghua University Raffles School of international design held an extraordinary "Type Talk" lecture in the Raffles auditorium.

The speaker is the 6 Holland designer who takes part in the one day font Festival "Don 't Believe The Type". The teachers and students of Donghua will also have close contact with several Holland designers to fully exchange their culture, work and life.



The 6 Holland graphic designers are Cuby Gerards, Karin Langeveld, font designer Yomar Augusto and animation designer Rogier Wieland.

Among them, Cuby Gerards, Karin Langeveld is also responsible for Hague creative city project, design studio Trapped in Suburbia, Underware foundry factory are all characterized by this.

In the Raffles teaching building in Donghua, designers made an exclusive introduction to the activities of font 1 and font 2 in Shanghai Holland cultural center, which is to be held the following day.



15 multimedia and graphic design students, alumni, and Chinese and foreign designers from Shanghai, Hangzhou, Shenzhen, Taipei and Tokyo participated in three workshops.

Rogier Wieland and illustrator Daniele Knirim made a font animation display workshop.

In the meantime, the students made a short music clip using freeze technique.



Donghua Raffles visual communication department lecturer David Fox, Bruno Porto, Sarah Stutz and Tamara Brodinsky participated in the workshop organized by Yomar Augusto and produced a collection of works.

Akiem Helmling and Bas Jacobs from Underware discussed the use of font design communication in text messaging, Internet chat and other media.



Homologous lecturers Dean Menezes, Eugene Tan, Ericson Corpuz, Juan Pablo Pedraza and Phyllis Gan (and the later joined by the Pedraza and Phyllis) also led students to join the workshop and exhibition activities.

This exhibition reviews the stylist works of Holland designers and their living and learning in Hague.

The event ended in workshops and designers' lectures, interspersing the life experience of Jongcheol Yoon, a lecturer in visual communication in Donghua, New York, Shanghai and Underware.



This series of rich fonts exchange activities not only provides a valuable opportunity for graphic design teachers and students to communicate with international designers, but also provides a stage to show their talents and design ideas, which is of great help to the improvement of teachers' quality and students' professional ability.

This event fully reflects the goal of the Raffles College in integrating curriculum content with practice and keeping pace with the international design concept.
